Reading Reflection of Hewitt's Article

Hewitt's article holds a significant meaning. It prompted an awareness in my mind of the perplexity often faced by students in understanding certain seemingly straightforward course content. A prime example is the conventional notion of a circle being measured at 360°, with little thought given to the exclusion of other multiples of 6. Hewitt advocates for a careful consideration of the distinction between arbitrary and necessary elements when constructing teaching material, for which topic use awareness, which topic use memory. This discernment, he suggests, enables educators to prioritize crucial concepts over supplementary ones during the process of designing a comprehensive unit plan.

By designing unit plan, there is another thing I need to be aware of is my execution of the plan. I will need to consider the activity and provide instruction clearly and wisely so that my plan, where I also need to plan the unit with resilience so that if my lesson will not going as expected, I need to label what should be prioritized as the necessary topic of my student, and what are the optional topics to help students use more awareness instead of memorize the knowledge which nonsense to students.
